What cell types are compatible with the FLEX chip?
The FLEX platform supports a wide range of biological samples, including:
- Suspension cell lines
- Primary immune cells (T cells, B cells, PBMCs, etc.)
- Adherent cell lines
- Co-culture systems
- Fixed-cell workflows
Cells can be cultured, assayed, and imaged directly on the FLEX chip using standard laboratory workflows.

Can I use the FLEX chip with my existing microscope?
Yes. FLEX is designed to work with standard inverted fluorescence microscopes.
Recommended imaging is typically performed at 4X, 10X or 20X magnification, although workflows can also be performed at higher magnifications depending on assay requirements.

What assays can I perform on the FLEX chip?
The FLEX platform supports a wide range of fluorescence-based live-cell and fixed-cell assays. Our team will work with you to adapt and optimize your workflow for use on the FLEX chip.
Common applications include:
• Cell surface marker staining and immunophenotyping
• Cytokine secretion and cytokine capture assays
• Cell-cell interaction studies
• Cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays

Since cells can be cultured directly on the chip, assays may also be combined with:

Do I need specialized equipment to use FLEX?
No.
FLEX is designed to integrate into existing laboratory workflows. Experiments can be performed using standard incubators, fluorescence microscopes, and cell culture equipment commonly found in research laboratories.
No dedicated Flexomics instrument is required.
What is the imaging resolution of the FLEX chip?
FLEX is optimized for cell-level and population-level fluorescence imaging workflows.
Most users perform experiments using 10X or 20X objectives, which provide excellent throughput and cell segmentation performance. Higher magnifications, including 40X, may be used for specific applications depending on imaging requirements.

Can I perform sequencing at my lab (or with my preferred third party)?
Yes.
Flexomics offers multiple workflow options:
- Perform imaging and sample preparation in your laboratory and return consumables to Flexomics for sequencing and analysis.
- Perform imaging locally and receive sequencing-ready materials for sequencing at your preferred provider.
- Work with Flexomics for end-to-end workflow execution, including imaging, sequencing, and analysis.
We are happy to discuss the option that best fits your laboratory infrastructure and project goals.
Can I receive the raw data to perform analysis in-house?
Typically, Flexomics performs pre-processing of imaging and sequencing outputs to link each datapoint to its well-of-origin. You receive an integrated data csv containing fluorescence intensity values and mapped reads for each unique well ID.
If necessary, we can work with your bioinformatics team to generate data linkage tools to allow you to perform pre-processing in-house. Contact us to discuss options.
